GETAWAY IN DEHESA DE JAEN, HOME OF BULLS

Stay in the heart of a bull ranch and live with the bulls in their natural habitat. Forget your everyday worries, let yourself be enveloped by the magic and tranquillity of an idyllic setting. The accommodation is made up of a series of stone buildings, former cowboys’ dwellings, stables, barns, etc., which have been respectfully restored, all with fireplaces: the “Salón de los toros”, the “Salón de los braseros”, the “Salón alto del pajar” and the “Sala de estar del mayoral”, as well as a small specialised library. All of them are arranged around a main courtyard, flanked by porches, with a vegetable garden, fruit trees and fountains. The dining room, which also has a fireplace and an old cattle shed, has an adjoining patio terrace where you can eat outdoors and from its windows you can see the garden. The garden has several terraces where you can sit and contemplate the surroundings and listen to the sound of the fountains. There is a swimming pool overlooking the pasture where the bulls graze and the bullfighting ring. The whole complex is surrounded by corrals and other livestock facilities where you can see the animals.

An estate of almost 400 hectares of pastureland, a natural ecosystem typical of the Iberian Peninsula. It is located in the municipality of Vilches, in the northeast of the province of Jaén, and here, since the mid-19th century, successive generations of the same family have dedicated themselves, and continue to do so, to their great passion, the breeding of fighting bulls. Its undulating landscape is dotted with holm oaks, wild olive trees, mastic trees… and covered with natural pasture, where some 300 fighting bulls and horses graze, living alongside the local fauna, such as deer, wild boar, foxes, partridges, hares, lynxes… as well as numerous birds. It is equipped with all the livestock facilities typical of these farms: stables, bullfighting ring, enclosures, chute, pens…etc. Due to its location, being in the foothills of Sierra Morena, from its hills you can see large areas of mountains and olive groves, as well as the four natural parks of the province of Jaén, a natural paradise of beauty and peace!!!
