You will be able to walk through the ash that has been deposited in the area and understand the damage that has been done to the vegetation and the incredible regenerative power of the Canary Island pine.
GUIDED HIKING ROUTE IN CUBO DE LA GALGA
On this tour you will be able to admire the Laurasilva of the island of La Palma, known as the Green Island for its main resources such as nature and vegetation.
The Laurasilva Forest, whose origin dates back to the Tertiary period (more than 20 million years ago), has undergone very few evolutionary changes over the years and will leave you speechless as time seems to have stopped.
Starting the walk you will notice that the path is located in a ravine, covered by a millenary evergreen forest, with mist from the trade winds that characterize this area, humidity, temperature and pleasant shadows. You will have the opportunity to get to know a living relic, it will be like going back in time and walking in the plant formations that covered a large part of Europe during the Tertiary period.
All along the way you will be accompanied by a legend. The story goes that a beautiful young woman, overwhelmed by the shepherd’s insistence on getting her heart, wanted to test his love by asking him for the impossible and thus free herself. The young woman asked him that before becoming his wife, she should approach the precipice and, resting her hands on her spear, she should jump over the abyss three times with her body without falling. On the last jump, the shepherd lacked strength and fell into the ravine. Dying, thus, for the sake of love. She lost her head and did not stop crying until the last days of her life. Since then, the local people have called the cliff El Salto del Enamorado (The Fall of the Lover) to remember him.
